SEPTEMBER 11 — WE REMEMBER
Today, the amateur radio community joins the rest of our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.
We remember the lives that were lost. We honor the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, dispatchers, military members, volunteers, and ordinary citizens who stepped forward when others needed help.
And as amateur radio operators, we also remember something that remains at the heart of our hobby: communication matters most when circumstances are at their worst.
Ham radio has a long tradition of public service and emergency communications. We practice, build repeaters, maintain equipment, participate in nets, learn new skills, and sometimes spend hours trying to make that stubborn antenna work—not simply because radio is fascinating, but because those skills can someday help our neighbors and communities.
September 11 reminds us that behind every radio, uniform, emergency vehicle, and call sign is a person willing to help another person.
Today isn't about making contacts or seeing how far our signal will travel.
It's about remembering.
Remember the lives lost.
Honor those who served.
Be thankful for those who continue to serve.
And never forget the importance of being ready to communicate when it matters most.
From all of us at Utah Ham Radio, we remember September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸
Never Forget. Always Honor. Stay Connected.
